Rather than promoting violence, something Palestinian supporters should be doing is building a massive Palestinian futures team by recruiting the best and brightest children and educating them in law, political theory, public relations, technology, journalism, and other related fields.
Then in 2-10 years there would be hundreds then thousands then tens of thousands of specialists building public sympathy and legal grounds to reclaim their rights, and leaders to create an effective and sustainable government.
This is something the Arab countries should take the lead in since they have a vested interest, are already involved, and have plenty of money to throw at the issue. And it would be much more acceptable, more effective, and probably cheaper than using violence.
And this doesn’t need to be a single unified movement. Any interested group of supporters could participate by organizing and funding a small to large futures related schools or campaigns. And it could happen inside or outside of the country or on the internet depending on the situation and the sponsor. The BDS movement is an excellent example of what’s possible.
Now is the best time to get started because recent events have caused plenty of anger and frustration that can be tapped with relatively few resources. And these young people need constructive alternative outlets to violence.
I’m certain this is already happening on a small scale but it needs to happen on a much larger scale to be the most effective with more of the public involved. It needs a major goverrnment behind the idea to fund it, organize it, promote it, and get it off the ground until it’s self sustaining.
